A Conversation Between Creatives: Dustyn of Curated Furniture & Decor Featured by Brittany Baer of Gild Beauty Bar

Recently, I had the joy of joining Brittany Baer, owner of Gild Beauty Bar in Redding, CA, for a relaxed and heartfelt conversation about entrepreneurship, design, and how the spaces we create shape the way we live and do business.

What started as a casual interview quickly became a meaningful exchange between two women who love their craft and their community.

Brittany is in the midst of an exciting re-launch for Gild Beauty Bar, bringing new energy and vision to her beloved beauty studio in downtown Redding. As she shared glimpses of what’s ahead for Gild, we also dove deep into the story behind Curated Furniture & Decor and my heart for transforming spaces that truly reflect the people who live and work in them.

Your Space Should Grow With You

One of the core themes we explored was the evolution of spaces through different seasons of life, whether it’s your home or your business. I shared a principle that guides so much of my design philosophy:

“Your space should grow with you. Whether it’s your home or your business, every season of life tells a different story, and your environment should reflect that. No guilt. No apologies. Just evolving spaces for evolving people.” - Dustyn Kellar

Life changes, and so should the spaces we spend our time in. When your environment reflects your current stage - not a past version of yourself - it creates clarity, peace, and flow. This applies whether you’re styling a cozy family home or revamping a retail space to meet new goals.

At Curated, this philosophy shows up in the way we approach design holistically, honoring both functionality and beauty. Our team works to reimagine spaces so they feel not just styled, but lived in, loved, and deeply personal.

Business Spaces Deserve a Glow-Up Too

While many of us understand updating our homes as life evolves, business owners often forget that their spaces need to evolve too. Brittany and I talked about how your storefront or studio is often the first “hello” to your clients, setting the tone for how they perceive your brand.

Investing in the environment of your business communicates care, intentionality, and excellence, all of which build customer trust and loyalty over time. I shared how seasonal refreshes, thoughtful styling, and subtle updates can breathe new life into a business without requiring a complete overhaul.

For example, something as simple as switching out throw blankets and decor seasonally, layering textures, or rearranging your layout for better flow can completely shift how your customers experience your space. And when you layer in custom pieces or unique finds from our Curated store, you create a memorable, elevated experience that keeps people coming back.

The Beauty of Collaboration in Small Business

One of my favorite parts of this interview was how naturally we both celebrated the power of community over competition. As Brittany gears up for Gild Beauty Bar’s relaunch, she’s leaning into partnerships and visibility that support local businesses, which is exactly what conversations like this are all about.

She generously pointed other business owners toward Curated Furniture & Decor for insight on how to elevate their spaces and present their businesses beautifully to their clients and community. It’s a reminder that when we share knowledge and lift each other up, we all thrive.

What’s Next for Gild Beauty Bar?

While the bulk of our conversation centered on design and evolving spaces, Brittany also gave us a peek into what’s next for Gild Beauty Bar. From refreshed branding to a thoughtfully reimagined beauty experience, her vision is both inspiring and exciting.

Her commitment to making her space reflect her new chapter mirrors exactly what we talk about at Curated: creating spaces that feel like the season you’re in, not the one you’ve outgrown. I can’t wait to see how her relaunch unfolds in the coming months!

I’m so grateful to Brittany for taking the time to sit down with me, ask meaningful questions, and share her platform. It’s conversations like these that remind me why I love what I do; design is about so much more than pretty things. It’s about storytelling, growth, and creating environments that support the lives we’re building.
